Final Disco Tray Post

After a fun four months working in Disco Tray, it is time for my final blog post. I would like to thank Dr. Goadrich for this opportunity and all of my fellow disco tray members. During this semester, I was able to work on multiple projects that helped expand my app development skills.

Faulkner Footsteps

The first project I worked on for Disco Tray was the Faulkner Footsteps App. The App shows historical sites across Faulkner County and allows users to see what sites are near them. We worked on building upon the framework of the app that was built last semester in mobile app development. We were able to get images working, get the ratings system fixed, add more things to firebase, and add location to the app. Colten and Joseph have also done an amazing job of polishing the app in the month. We also were able to present our app to the Faulkner County Historical Society.

School Audit Navigator
I also worked on finishing the School Audit Navigator App from last semester. The app displays data from the Federal Audit Clearinghouse API to display funding statistics about educational institutions. This semester I worked on fixing bugs, making less of the app hardcoded, and making the API more efficient. I am happy with how the app is now, as it is so much cleaner and more operational.

Hendrix Arboretum
Finally, I have been working on the Hendrix Arboretum app, which shows trees on the Hendrix campus. The app is very close to be finished, with a very solid foundation from last semester. I have worked on cleaning up bugs with the app and making the map look prettier. I have also been working on speeding up the images on the app and adding functionality for tree plaques.
