After our first go at beta testing, we ran into a variety of issues with the Faulkner Footsteps app that needed to be urgently fixed. However, we have been able to knock out the vast majority of these issues out over the past few weeks. Our major issue were images being too large, which I think made the rest of the app look worse than it was. Colten was able to fix this by compressing the images that we upload, making images now load quickly and massively speeding up the whole app.
These past few weeks, I have focused on some of the more minor issues during beta testing. I made some cosmetic changes to the app by adding a scroll bar and showing red text under the fields when adding an object. The app also now shows the user the filters a site has on the edit/create site pages. I also worked on making the location in the app make more sense by adding a button that allows the user to automatically set their current location as the site location when adding a site. Most of these issues were easy to fix, but putting a close button on the full screen image of a site was surprisingly hard and required me to use a different package for viewing full screen images.
I think that we are almost done with Faulkner Footsteps, even though that has been said many many times. There were a few bugs in the latest round of beta testing, although nothing too major. The major bugs from last time seem to be mostly fixed. I think that we are ready to stress test the app by starting to add sites across Faulkner County to it.
